Spring Showers Sci-fi, Fantasy, Mystery Thrillers Box Set Giveaway!

spring-showers-sci-fi-fantasy-mystery-thrillers-box-set-giveaway-wide-smallYou’re here because you like reading, right? Right now, over thirty authors (some who have appeared here as well) are giving away novels, short stories and previews for you to read at no cost to yourself, except the time it takes to download this huge boxed-set.

You pay nothing and they work for days, weeks and sometimes years to put these stories together for you – so please be aware that by downloading this boxed-set you are giving permission to the authors who have contributed to the boxed-set to include your email address on their list of newsletter subscribers. This is a fair exchange for their work you receive for free (and you can unsubscribe later at any time).

Once you click and subscribe, you will be directed to link to download your free extremely large volume of reading that will keep your mind and heart entertained for many weeks to come. In fact, since this giveaway was so large, a second gigantic boxed set is in the works and in July you will automatically receive a link to download that second one without having to do a thing, except enjoy it!

Click below and opt in, and you will automatically be given the download link for the gigantic box set filled with exciting new worlds, fantasies and adventures of mystery and suspense:

Happy Saturnalia!

From all of us here at The Protagonist, may you have a happy and book-filled new year!

It’s been quite the ride this past year, with many characters getting to speak out (and occasionally, speak out of turn). May your next year be full of great books, and may their characters forever live in your head!(*)

We’ll leave you with this interview with both Assaph and Felix (seen together to prove they’re not the one person), originally published on Jen Winters‘ blog. It’s a classic Felix…

(*) Yes, we know how that sounds. That’s the point ;–)

Dear readers,

My name is Assaph Mehr, and I am the author of Historical Fantasy Mysteries, or – as I like to call them – Stories of Togas, Daggers, and Magic. The stories tell the cases of a hard-boiled detective named Felix, set in a magical world based on ancient Rome. If you like any two of Urban Fantasy, Detective mysteries and Ancient Rome, you’re bound to enjoy them.

With me tonight is Felix, the protagonist of the stories. I met Felix a while ago, in circumstances that we’d both rather keep quiet for now –

Felix: I still don’t understand why…

Assaph: We’ve been over this before. Back to the introduction. I have been writing and publishing Felix’s memoirs these past two years –

Felix: And I’m still to see any royalties from them.

Assaph: Told you, writing and publishing isn’t as lucrative as it used to be. There are costs involved…

Felix: Yeah, yeah, great reviews… [sotto voce] mentula.

Assaph: I heard that! Please keep respectful language. Seeing how you’re so eager to jump in, why don’t you introduce yourself to the readers of this blog? Continue reading “Happy Saturnalia!”

We won!

The Protagonist- VFC Gold Award.png

Over at Virtual FantasyCon 2017, the awards were given out last weekend. (Voting and ceremonies were held in advance of the main con events, Oct 16th-22nd).

Well, guess who got best fantasy blog of the year?

Damn right! We’re so proud 🙂

So make sure you take a peek at the Authors page, to see both published and upcoming interviews. And don’t forget to follow the blog (bottom right) to get updates on each new interview!

(ps. We’ve updated our cover image and logo, for a shiny new look! Now go subscribe…)

Exciting Stuff!

Big NewsNot an interview, just a bit of news.

No, JK Rowling hasn’t responded yet.

It’s… What? No, it’s not Jon Snow either.

OK, so the somewhat-less-than-all-that-exciting news is that we have revamped the Authors & Interviews page!

Not only have we given it a crisp new look, we also link to the main genres for each novel. So go now, take a look, see if there is anything you missed, or something that’s about to come that catches your fancy. Don’t forget to subscribe (the Follow button at the bottom) so that you don’t miss out on new interviews.

Go on, meet someone new. Fall in love with a fiction.

#VirtualFantasyCon

VirtualFantasyCon

Just a reminder to all you lovely readers, that next week Virtual Fantasy Con is running all over the net! Go to a fantasy convention from the privacy of your own wifi!

We’d highly recommend you join the event here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1757708664480385/

We would be participating in the event by hosting a stop on the blog tour. Look out for it next week! However, you can also start reading now about all the lovely authors and books who will be participating on the official blog, starting with the interview of our very own Felix the Fox!

See y’all next week!

Special announcement re Tommy of Counteract (by Tracy Lawson)

Tracy Lawson - Counteract Resist Ignite

Dear readers, some of you may remember the interview with Tommy of Counteract by Tracy Lawson. Well, it appears young Tommy is now the star of a three books series – and to celebrate this, Tracy Lawson is running a special promotion!

This is your chance to get free e-books and read the story of Tommy and Careen’s fight against the Office of Civilian Safety and Defense from the very beginning.

Here’s how it works:
Download Ignite: Book Three of the Resistance Series on July 19-20 on Amazon for $2.99:

http://amzn.to/295WBYY. Then send your receipt to tracy@counteractbook.com and in return, you’ll receive FREE downloads of Counteract and Resist, the first two books in the series!

We’ll be back Tomorrow, for another very special interview – one that is happening on a very special anniversary!

Virtual Fantasy Con!

VirtualFantasyCon

For those who don’t know (yet) – there will be a very exciting Virtual Fantasy Convention later this year! It’s very exciting! All the fun of a convention, without leaving the comfort of your own WiFi.

The event will have lots of fun activities, with plenty of opportunities to discover and interact with indie authors. Plenty of give-aways and free swag too, of course – we did say it was a con 😉

In preparation to the event, the organisers have started to put up many interviews – with both characters and authors! Some really cool stuff is already up (and I’m not saying it just because I got to argue with my protagonist), and more is coming over the coming weeks.

Considering the audience of this blog love these kind of interviews, I say go have a read now – you might discover your next favourite author!

Felix the Fox – guest appearance on PureJonel

Web Cover-miniDear readers, some disturbing news tonight.

Felix seems to have done a runner, and gave a guest interview on PureJonel: http://purejonel.blogspot.ca/2016/01/FtF.html

The mentula has also answered a few more questions than he did for us… I need to have a chat with him!

So while I sort out the voices in my head, feel free to head to Jonel’s blog and read his interview 🙂

Happy New Year – may all the novels you read this year be awesome!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

All the protagonists from your favourite novels would like to wish you a happy new year. All the antagonists wish themselves a happier year – and promise this year they’ll rule!

In order to celebrate the coming Year of The Protagonist, we have an updated look to the website! Hope you like it as much the protagonists do.

We will be back on schedule tomorrow, interviewing a very dangerous interstellar assassin!

Don’t forget to check out the Authors page. It lists all the authors and characters that have been interviewed – and those that will be published in the coming weeks!

Please follow the site by email (bottom-right), via Twitter or like our Facebook page to be notified when the next interview is posted.
