Dear readers, tonight with us are four unlikely heroes from Earth’s future. They are here to speak about the alien empire that declared war on earth, and about rising to the challenge when militaries and governments crumble.
Tell us a little about where you grew up. What was it like there?
Logan: Oh, an interview right here and now?
Tany: Oh yay! We besties are gonna get super famous after this!
Seiner: Tany, focus on the questions for this time, please…
Amira: So, this will be those archival questions back in Sorania? I can take that as you wish, dear human.
Logan: So, where do I grew up for each of us, you say? Well, I was raised near the Little Tokyo district in LA, which is where I could find many people of various ethnicities, most were good, and chatty and go to play around while my parents did their business, others didn’t care much, but my parents always taught me to always love everyone for what they do, instead what they are like. To see the inside instead of the exterior if you catch what I say. It didn’t came without sacrifices, but that’s how it was for me.
Seiner: Alright. Name’s Seiner Butch, originally from the old England, yet no teacups or grey rains as you assume from us. But that nitpick aside, got some dual parents like Logan had, with my dad being the best lawyer back then while I took my chances in studies and curriculums and all that bloke stuff. That’s how I got this brain, yeah. As for how we got here… long story, maybe next time.
Amira: I shall gracefully speak out now. Amira Dhorian, former princess of the Dhorian Royal Family from the Soranian Kingdom, one of the main planets of the Committee of Planets. As princess, I was instructed to practice my knowledge of diplomatic measures, as well as some close combat should the need of war arrive. For that nature, I grew up training in other planets with my brother Varris, where I also practiced my power to understand beings through their hearts and souls, something that benefited us Soranians for decades. Such where simpler times where I thought peace was the guaranteed form for all life forms. Sadly, that didn’t came to be.
Tany: Well, if you want to light up the mood, here ya go! Name’s Tania Maestas but call me Tany if you like! An El Paso girl from my travelling parents who wanted to make their cute lil’ girl smile even if they took odd jobs to feed me and all that jazz, get some besties in school and even try to make it fun for the others! And after the fun, I had even more in Dallas, where I tried to be a goodie one even when my grades didn’t grade on Einstein, but hey, I found my besties. But now… I can make besties with these three!
Seiner: Hopefully without getting to blow your staff up, that is.
Tany: Hey!
Did you have any favourite toys as a child? Any cherished memories?
Logan: Ah yes, I do remember fondly once I went to a day in the beach with my high school pals, just watching the sunset with people no matter who they were was the sight I can always cherish the most in life, the closest I could see in following what my parents and Richard wanted for me. That, and having dinner with the closest town hall in Los Angeles, that act of kindness I won’t ever forget…
Seiner: Me? It’s so obvious from me, but for your insistence, building my first ever functional robot with C-… My brother witnessed it in its full glory back in a park. To even achieve that a tender age? Must mean I have the gift… Or if you want something more sentimental, I’d say my 6th Christmas with whole family. The happiest I’ve been before it went down. No, not the time to say.
Amira: I have so many, but if I must pick one, it is when I felt the touch of Varris when I was born. Even fresh from birth, I could see that Varris’s touch carried warmth that showed me the beauty of a person, the first one I could read. Even if they kept a firm face, I could hear the joy and crying within him, to have a sister to look for. That is what I can cherish right now.
Tany: Awww. Oh, me? Oh, so many to pick, so little to tell, how can I… Oh, got it! Rapid fire! My 10th birthday party with the whole neighborhood, getting my only A+ in class, going to Berlin in class, and of course, tying my shoes, all made me smiley smile so very much I can tell you all day! Oh wait, I forgot when I won the arcade prize and-
Seiner: Next…!
What do you do now?
Logan: The de facto leader of the Earth Warriors while working in tandem with the UEF in the war against the Zlocu. It’s the choice we had to carry out to survive, if what the Guardian see in us is true. I strike with my blade to shield those who need to survive, and also to take down whenever possible, even though I believe there has to be other ways. Given I’m the only left in the family, I had to settle with them, but I like them, I really do.
Amira: Oh, Logan…
Seiner: I’m the gadgeteer and genius. If you need some transport or a specialized weapon or anything else to get through some messy obstacle, I’m your guy. Of course, it’s time limited in how I use them, so I must calculate which one is the best use, so I balance that out as much as I can.
Amira: Well, given that my planet is no more, I am still thinking of what I should do for my people’s memory, while I try to understand humans even more right now, even those oustside Logan, Seiner and Tany while I still look for Varris. It is a scary thought, yet for the sake of all, I must continue.
Tany: And I’m your magical jester student who can summon almost everything you need or if you want to get your sorry butt kicked like a naughty dog! You want some snow flakes to chill? You got it! Want to fire up a BBQ? I got you! Want me to slap little butts with giant gloves? I can-
Seiner: No. Cease.
Tany: But why?!
Logan: I… think because that would a bit too dirty for this interview.
Tany: C’mon, Loggie, not you too!
What can you tell us about your latest adventure?
Logan: Well, it was a close one to say the least, the first one since Amira got released from custody. Going into a stadium from San Diegoto rescue top scientists and some of our comrades in a hellish three way against the Zlocu was not in my bingo card but despite all, we got through, right guys?
Seiner: Oh, for sure, Logan. At least splitting up in each direction helped us to ease the pressure in knowing who to save and shield while we did our parts.
Amira: Yes, I certainly have done so much to secure everything in place, but when facing Yamja… I tried my best to control myself, but even then, there was so much I can handle. I am thankful for Logan for stepping on time.
Tany: And then we got some pizza party back at base to get everyone happy! Almost everyone though, that meanie Ji-ae sulked with that asshat Walty like we weren’t there. Is that the thanks we get?!
Amira: I believe they are still processing what has happened, especially with their partner.
Tany: Oh… yeah, move on, never mindly that.
What did you first think when you first saw the existence of aliens, or humans?
Logan: My first impression was sheer disbelief… and also horror given the first contact was through genocidal madmen like the Zlocu, to see them calculate everything to tear everything apart, and seeing what they did… I almost believed if being alone was a blessing in disguise. But at least knowing Amira got some of that faith restored, that I can thank her, I guess. Oh, not now, Amira!
Seiner: Same with Logan, and also had to saw some awful things up there, and what happened with my family… yeah, it took some crap from me to even trust Amira given what the Zlocs did. Still grappling with it.
Amira: In my perspective, I always heard about humanity through tales and reports as the “fordbidden species”, a species so violent to meet and even tame, a species who know nothing but to commit to bloodshed and war. Getting into that planet after escaping with Varris did not put us at ease, hence we hid ourselves in desolate areas from time to time, avoiding humans because of those tales. But thankfully, I now know that is not the case once I saw those three and others. For that, I wish more would see this side.
Tany: Yeah… I kinda wished the alienly aliens were more E.Ts and green men instead of those armored psychos that are the Zlocs. But hey, maybe once this petty war is done, I can get to see more goodie aliens out there with our sweet Ammy, right?
Amira: I can promise that, Tany… Should you breathe in one.
Tany: I can manage that!
What is the worst thing about fighting in war as a group?
Logan: Knowing the stories, it’s probably the fact that most of the time, we need to wake up too early to get our duty done, plus some of the rigid hours on when to eat and when to go to the briefing. I always expect that once we joined the UEF, but we had to take it, or else we still would be too aimless. Not to mention, the risk of losing friends any time know and seeing others die in the way…
Seiner: Yeah, gotta second what Logan said. It’s not cool for a developing brain to think when waking up too early either. Blokes need to be more flexible. Or when I expect Tany to follow it up in the worst way imaginable.
Tany: You cancelling me now?!
Amira: For me, it had to be the custody due to my powers, due to not knowing who I was. To ever be isolated from any lifeform, I could not stand it. I could not even stand for so long. While I am no longer there, I dread the time I still feel the rest not making back for their loved ones, to see their wishes undone in an instant…
Tany: My biggestly big complaint? Not enough gaming and tv spaces to watch the fun, the naughty soldiers hog all the attention and we need that funnily fun too!
Logan: But, don’t we have a TV in ours, Tany?
Tany: It’s not that big! I want bigger! And it’s not like I want them to be put down like dogs, I want more besties to know here!
Logan: Don’t mind her much, carry on…
What is the best thing about it?
Logan: At the very least, with what we have the resources to keep ourselves on even footing against the Zlocu, plus we have all the help we can get in many ways as of now. Not sure how long they may last, but I can appreciate Sly accommodating us here.
Seiner: Aye. That, and more chances to test my little toys out, both for support, and some practice, if you will. And in the good times, I can see myself studying and fixing in private like I always did back home. Well, as long as the other one isn’t around.
Amira: I would not say the “best” thing in anything with war. But knowing more people to see if they are beyond their looks is what can help me feel reassured from what Logan has said to me earlier.
Tany: More besties, more fun in kicking Zloc butt, and also more chances to prove the jerkoffs that I am a woman, not a little girl, or I kick their green butts out and-! (Gets pinched by Seiner) Ow! Seiny?!
Seiner: We’re in an interview, Tany. Don’t drag the bloody thing off.
Tany: You meanie!
Tell us a little about your friends.
Logan: Oh man… you had to touch that, didn’t you? I had a handful of those back then, so many faces I could remember like Lee, Farid and Amanda… it’s a shame they’re gone. But at least I found some new ones to get to know. Ain’t that right?
Seiner: Don’t flatter me, Logan, it’s only been days. But yeah, I had only a few I could call friends, but here and now? Well, if you want me to be generous… I can deal with those three if possible, and of course, if any other blokes like Eddie and Lucy can also get it well together.
Tany: Eddie ain’t a weido!
Seiner: It’s my opinion, anyway.
Tany: Your stupid opinion!
Amira: You two, please. Me? I have a found plenty to know of, both from the same positions as I was, to even common citizen in each planet I visited. So many friends many worlds, and I am blessed to know them, yet also a curse if they are away and at risk… but I am thankful for the Earth Warriors here.
Tany: Oh, quite a few goodie ones, but if I have to name them? Freddie Rossi, Ted Ranzeck and Amelia Gonzales. The three best who where there since high school, shared so much good things and laugh… If only they could be here and…
Amira: Tany?
Tany: Oh, never mind that, at least I have you now!
Logan: Tany…
Any romantic involvement?
Logan: W-What? Well, I had some I had a crush on, but not a definitive one as of late, not even now.
Tany: You sure about that, Loggie? Look at Ammy.
Logan: No, it’s not that.
Tany: Admit it, you do. You do like her.
Logan: S-Stop!
Seiner: No, never had interest, never will.
Tany: You sure, Seiny?
Seiner: Sod off!
Amira: I do know love, but I have not found one who could match what my soul can feel… Yet, I sense it with Logan, somehow?
Logan: N-No, that’s a mistake, it probably is!
Tany: Me? If I can find one who can love some magic, I’ll get it, and you will hear it out!
Seiner: In your dreams…
Whom (or what) do you really hate?
Logan: The mere act of bigotry sickens me. Just… we have the same flesh and can speak, why divide and even hate ourselves just for our looks and practices? Disgusting. It really is. And the Zlocu show that to the extreme in who gets to live through death. We cannot allow that.
Seiner: Well, same, and of course some twisted bastards who would use any new creation for just any sickening creation and experiment on any people.
Amira: I… I must second what Logan said. That is still one part I cannot fathom about humans.
Tany: Samey! Plus, I hate meanies who put others down for their smile and joy for no reason other than to be a dick!
What’s your favourite drink, colour, and relaxing pastime?
Logan: I always loved the red color, which is how my armor looks. But yeah, I learn languages when not fighting, as well as watching my favorite movies and books from my childhood. A mind pleaser if you can call it that after a long battle.
Seiner: Just some testing for my gadgets and maybe listen to my favorite podcast. At least the archives, don’t know if the guys are still out there.
Amira: I know what that human term means, but I loved to be in the natural fauna of most planets, the place where I can feel the best forms of life around in every shape and form, as well as recalling the oral tales from my people to soothe me and also bathing in the cleanest of rivers.
Tany: Oh, should I name some top 10 for this?!
Seiner: Oh no, don’t.
Tany: Too late! Pranking meanies, watching the newest anime goodies, eat the meatiest meat out there, I like forming rainbow things, knowing new besties, hanging out with besties, drag racing in the desert, reading mythos, taking selfies, and also playing with the best board game ever!
Seiner: And that game is…?
Tany: Not telling!
What does the future hold for you?
Logan: Well, we’ve completed the mission for now, we’re still awaiting new orders as we drive the Zlocu out. Probably an infiltration or battle, but whatever it is, we will make it as a team in every way possible.
Seiner: That, and also some time to readjust what I’ve said to Amira. Still not feeling the best after that.
Amira: I understand Seiner. As for me, make an effort to learn more about humanity, for the good and the ill, and see if I can still find where Varris is as I train my power more. I just hopefully that it can be on time.
Tany: Me? Well, maybe take a hot shower again and then play with the grass with the besties. Or maybe even go shopping in town, that can work! Right? Right?
Can you share a secret with us, which you’ve never told anyone else?
Logan: Me? I mean… should I really… say that when she’s here?
Seiner: Yeah… you don’t get the privilege to know just yet. And no, don’t cheat, Amira.
Amira: I was not going to. But if you do not wish to share until later, you can do so.
Tany: Oh… Can I confess that the second A+ I only got it through cheating?
Seiner: What?!
Tany: Hey, it’s not that bad compared to your sealed lips, I have nothing to hide from you!
Seiner: Oh, that’s it, interview’s over! (Walks away from the room. The three stare down.)
Tany: Oops, I gotta see Eddie now, laters! (Runs to the door, leaving Amira and Logan alone. They glance at each other and Logan looks down.)
Amira: Well, at least I got to know more of you three. That can work well, right?
Logan: Yeah. Hope so. (The two stand up, waving goodbye.)
